KOLKATA, 1 DEC: A reporter with The Statesman in Kolkata, Soma Basu, has bagged the CMS-PANOS Young Environment Journalist Award 2011 in the Print Media category. The award will be presented to her at the inaugural ceremony of the CMS VATAVARAN environment and wildlife film festival on 6 December in New Delhi. The CMS awards are presented for excellence in environmental journalism to individuals who have done “exemplary investigative and inspired reporting on environmental issues in the country”. This countrywide recognition for young journalists who have made a significant contribution in either the print or electronic media to an understanding of the nation’s environmental problems is a prized award.
